University of Texas at El Paso, founded in 1913, is a public university. Its unique location on the Mexican border creates opportunities for inter-American educational and research collaborations among students, faculty, institutions and industries, especially in northern Mexico. Many programs have a border focus. Programs are offered through the Colleges of Business Administration, Education, Engineering, Liberal Arts, Nursing and Health Sciences, and Science. Its 330-acre campus is located in El Paso.
