Xavier-one of the best decisions I ever made

I am a first generation college student who grew up with a single mom in the Mississippi delta. I always wanted to be a doctor. Xavier helped me get into medical school and now I have a career that I didn't know could be this good. I made life long friends and really learned how to be a man. Words can't express how grateful I am to the the staff and faculty of this fine institution.

Xavier University of LA provided stellar leadership training and the nurturing I needed as an African American to not just enter but thrive in the workforce. Xavier produces a lot of firsts. Alexis Herman, the first African American U.S. Secretary of Labor. Dr. Regina Benjamin, the first African American woman named to the American Medical Association's Board of Trustees. And many, many more. The challenging curriculum has truly served me well. I want to thank the compelling Xavier staff and administration for equipping the next generation of future leaders as many Xavier graduates excel in their disciplines. Xavier's legacy lives powerfully and strong!

I was born and raised in New Orleans, LA, so attending Xavier University was always my goal. And it did not dissapoint. From the classes and professors that challenged me to the friends that supported me, everything about my experience there is cherished. I would make the same choice again TODAY!
